Chapter Philanthropy & Service

In addition to national partners, collegiate chapters also support local causes through philanthropic fundraising and hands-on service on their campuses and in their local communities.

Project Prom

Project Prom is a program that provides formal dresses to young women that lack financial resources so they can attend their high school prom.  We are accepting donations of formal dresses, both long and short to give away free of charge to high school seniors in Tangipahoa Parish.

Each of the young ladies are hand selected by their school guidance counselors and demonstrate lack of resources but also exhibit excellence in the classroom and school campus both academically and socially.

Alpha Sigma Tau Sorority of Southeastern is proud to host this annual event as it’s 7th year of existence here in Tangipahoa Parish. Our goal is to dress 30 young women this year and allow them to enjoy a “Night to Remember!” The event will be held Saturday, March 10th, 2018 at the Alpha Sigma Tau House.

If you are interested in donating to this program we are more than happy to accept monetary donations or gift-cards for dresses, shoes, hair, make-up or prom accessories for the participants or if you would like to refer any women to the program please contact Jami Bush at jami.bush@selu.edu.

Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity partners with people in your community, and all over the world, to help them build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage.

The sisters of Alpha Sigma Tau partner with Habitat for Humanity every semester to help build homes for deserving people in the community. This past fall, we, along with the women of Alpha Omicron Pi, helped give a family of three their dream home. This philanthropic event is a very rewarding opportunity for whoever takes part in it. We definitely look forward to this event every semester!

Big Event

The Big Event is a day of service on Southeastern's campus each spring where teams are given specific service activities to complete around the Hammond area. This can include planting gardens, repainting older buildings, or simply cleaning the nearby parks. Our sisters enjoy representing Alpha Sigma Tau in our community each year with a team of girls dedicated to Southeastern's Big Event.
